Messy Bubble Nail Art Tutorial

I’m probably not the first person to think of this nail art, it is super easy (albeit crazy messy), but when I was Google-researching it to see if it would work, I couldn’t find any clues! So, I have a tutorial for you today, especially suited to those of you who don’t mind getting funny looks from anyone living with you… But it is so much fun, please do give it a try!

Step by Step Easy Nail Art Tutorial – Sharpie Roses

Good evening ladies! I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start 🙂 today was super productive for me, so I’m on a high!

Yesterday was Macro Monday, so today is Tutorial Tuesday! I thought it would be nice to do a simple one. Even though we can all do marvelous things with our nails when we want, sometimes we just don’t have the time, right? And this is perfect for the season!

You will need

  • two nail polishes – I used a greige and a rosy pink – both by Kiko
  • Sharpie marker pen – or another fine-ish permanent marker
  • top coat – preferably fast-drying

And here are the steps…

Dragonfly Wing Mini-Tutorial

Hey ladies!

Did you see my dragonfly nail art from 2 weeks ago? Well, the lovely Monica asked for a tutorial of how I did the wings, so here it is 🙂

You will need :

  • a good base coat
  • acrylic paint – I used a dark indigo blue
  • lots of water to dilute the paint
  • acetone and a clean-up brush (even if you don’t usually do clean-up, I recommend it this time!)

a quick step-by-step for those of you who feel confident :

#31DC2013 – Gradient – Tuesday Tutorial

First up, I want to say a big thank you for all of your lovely comments about yesterday’s fail mani. Not only am I looking at it in a different way, but you’re helping me to beat the September blues. Big love ladies, thank you 🙂

I like to try to do tutorials on Tuesdays, mostly because I’m a bit idiosyncratic. So this prompt is perfectly timed, since I had prepared photos for this mani – and this is a great way of getting me to get on the case!

You will need

  • Neon pink polish – I used the fabulous Pool Party by China Glaze
  • Darker pink/purple polish – I used Designer Satin (China Glaze)
  • Fan brush – these can be bought really easily (and cheaply!) at most nail art suppliers
  • Black Nail Art Pen – I used Barry M‘s, but if you don’t have one, you could probably do this with black acrylic paint and a fine detail brush
  • (Quick Dry) Top Coat – my favourite is Butter London‘s PD Topcoat, but most brands do them
  • Base Coat – just to avoid staining !
  • Matte Topcoat – not essential, but if you have one, it will come in useful
  • your usual clean-up gear; unless you’re not worried about clean-up – they’re your nails, not mine 😉

If you’re feeling confident, here’s a quick run-through of the steps 🙂

Tuesday Tutorials – Feather Nail Art with Butter London “Posh Bird” *picture heavy*

Eeeek’s recent post about her feather mani reminded me how much I love this look ! The only thing is, I’m really squeamish about feathers, so I played around with a fanbrush to get the look. Naturally, I had to use Posh Bird by Butter London – it’s an almost 1-coater foil that is just perfect – and you get the pun, I hope 🙂

You will need :

  • Base colour – a foil or highly pigmented creme, you don’t want this to be a sheer colour, and it needs to contrast nicely with…
  • Detail colour – I used black acrylic paint. You can definitely do this with nail polish, too, but again, it needs to be opaque. Acrylic paint is handy, it dries fast and doesn’t streak when you top coat it
  • Fan brush – yep, those funny shaped ones you get in nail art sets. It took me a while to work out what to do with mine, but now I can’t live without it !
  • Dotting tool(s) – I used two sizes. If you don’t have dotting tools, you can use knitting needles, hair pins, tooth picks…

First up, a collage, in case you’d like to follow all the steps in one handy image !
