April Challenge – Day 24 – Striping – Zoya Veruschka & Darling Diva Dreamy

Oh no, I’ve discovered another brand that is really hard to get a hold of  in France and that I am totally in love with !

I’m sure you all know Zoya. Well, I picked up Veruschka, a deep forest green with a matte velvet finish and it is beautiful. Lookie!

Zoya is pretty pricey in France (13€), but for a 15ml bottle, at least it feels worth it ! I used two coats, and it was soo smooth. Plus, this stuff dries faster than any other polish I have ever used! And not tacky-dry, totally rock-solid dry. 2 minutes after this manicure I cleaned and cooked mussels, and it didn’t do the polish any harm at all. Despite the microglitter, it removes pretty easily, I didn’t see any staining after a few days of wear.

For today’s tape mani, I added Dreamy by Darling Diva – this is a beautiful holo topcoat that I have yet to swatch properly. I kept it simple, but was pretty happy with the result :

Well, I’m afraid Naughty Kitty has decided it’s cuddle time now, and is literally climbing all over me, purring and bumping my face with hers. She’s probably right. So I’ll leave you with another photo under different lighting 🙂

Taping Nail Art with Essie – Spring 2013 – Madison Ave-Hue & Maximillian Strasse Her

I realise I have been doing way too much swatching and not enough nail art recently !

For the new Essie collection, though some of the colours are amazing, a lot are pretty similar to the China Glaze Avant Garden (though that was always going to happen, the CG collection is 12-strong !). But I did splash out on all of Avant Garden, and my card still hasn’t recovered, so I couldn’t justify getting all of the Essie Spring 2013 collection !

But, well, a girl can never have too many bright pinks or cool greys, right?!

So I went for Madison Ave-Hue – a process magenta* (get me, getting into colour theory), with some silver sparkles. The silvery-ness is distributed similarly to O.P.I.’s I Don’t Give a Rotterdam, although, obviously, the shades are pretty different ! It came out a little blue in my photo below

I also grabbed (and paid for) Maximillian Strasse Her, an icy cold grey cream. I was pretty impressed to find that this is about the only grey in eternity to actually dry the same colour as in the bottle !

That was a nice surprise, as, although i expect greys to dry a shade or two darker, I’m regularly a bit disappointed when it happens !

Pre-Spring Challenge Day 12 – Stripes

I do love dark nail polish, and I realised that I haven’t had a very dark mani in this challenge yet, so I grabbed one of my Christmas Box Sets that my boyfriend got me from Models Own and my Models Own Pro in black and got to work with the striping tape !

I’m so happy with how this one came out, though I did do it at the end of a long night, so admittedly was a bit slapdash – as my cuticles will confirm :

Day 12 - Stripes

The polishes all have a bit of a metallic sheen to them, and I just love how the flash brings that out :
