#NOTD – Holo Duochrome Ruffian

I feel like it’s a long time since I did a Ruffian mani! But today I wanted something simple yet a little different 🙂

The base colour (picked out by my other half) is Butter London Queen Vic. It’s the first time I’d used this polish, glad to see it’s GREAT quality!

The Ruffian top is in Pixie Polish Memory Splice. That’s an awesome holographic duochrome, which shifts a pinkish copper to green in the bottle. In this mani, it has become very red-purple-blue. Just so mesmerising! Unfortunately Pixie isn’t selling polish any more, if I hear she starts again, I will let you all know, don’t worry.

Happy Friday! I bet a lot of those of you in the US (and maybe Canada) are starting your Christmas shopping today! If so, don’t forget I have a coupon code running 🙂

OMD Rather Awesome Challenge – 16. Ruffian/Half-Moon

For this theme, I couldn’t decide between Ruffian and Half-Moon, so I went for a hybrid 🙂

I decided to go for two polishes that contrast a lot – Zoya Ziv for the silver and Ciaté Headliner, to get the semi-matte contrast with the metallic

Ruffian Manis !

So I recently hit the 50 followers barrier, and really want to do a giveaway, but it’s so tricky to decide what to do ! However, I think I’ve finally worked it out 🙂

I’ll be announcing the giveaway tomorrow, so watch this space! It’ll be a little one, but if/when I hit 100 followers, I have a massive giveaway planned, with a contest, too !

So this winter I went really mad on the ruffian manis. I’ve decided that I especially love them in metallic polishes, as they tend to be quite opaque and don’t dry too thick. I can’t for the life of me remember exactly which polishes I used, but these are all China Glaze.

For anyone not familiar with Ruffians, these are manis where you usually use 2 colours (though I did a double-ruff variant for the Pre-Spring Challenge) – the first one goes on as usual, and the second goes over the top, leaving a gap that follows the shape of the cuticle. It’s a great way of wearing 2 polishes at once when you can’t choose between them !

Swatches & Ruffian Mani – O.P.I. Spiderman collection – Into the Night – Your Web or Mine ? – Just Spotted the Lizard – Number One Nemesis

Hi again !

I feel like I’m finally catching up with myself enough for a long post.

I went back to the UK at the beginning of the month, partly to see my family and partly to do some serious shopping! One of my favourite places to pick up nail polish is on the boat – we always go P&O Ferries, and they have a great little duty-free shop that always has great offers on cosmetics.

So I picked up a Spiderman mini-set by O.P.I. – though this one was also in the sales at Sephora – in France at least – on the boat it was less than £7 for 4 minis. It’s kind of hard to be sure which is which from the packaging, as the French and English translations don’t match up at all! So I checked online, and it seems we have :

  • Into the Night – a glittery gun-metal grey
  • Your Web or Mine ? – a warm, pearly pink
  • Just Spotted the Lizard – a green-gold metallic
  • Number One Nemesis – a dark blue metallic

This has been a real O.P.I. week! I’m now banning them from my nails for the rest of the month ! Continue reading
