Guest Post from Bubbly Brunette

I feel incredibly lucky to know other bloggers who enjoy writing up guest posts, as it really helps me to post lots of variety !

Today’s guest post is from Chris at The Bubbly Brunette – she’s done some gorgeous nail art for us, I can’t thank her enough 🙂 I nominated her for a Versatile Award a while back, and I’m so glad to see her blog just getting better and better. I especially recommend her handy Dupe List for those of you out there with a few unobtainable lemmings…

————————————————————————-

Hi everyone! I’m Christina and I’m the bubbly brunette! I’ve been seeing a lot of animal print lately, so I decided to do some on my nails!

I started with a base of Fishnet Stockings by Essie. Then, I dotted on some splotches of Shifting Power by Essie. Using Revlon Knockout and a small brush  I outlined the gold with small C-shapes and added a few random dots.

This is my first time doing a leopard look, and I’m in love! I can’t wait to try this with other color combinations!

Thank you for featuring me, Brijit!

My New Favourite Red – Butter London Saucy Jack

Happy Monday, everyone !

I’m trying to do less swatches and more nail art at the moment, the April Challenge sure helps with that ! But I’m going to swatch this one for you anyway, because I am in love with this polish… Yep, the soft focus is totally appropriate 🙂

I like my reds bloody, shiny and deep, and this jelly pushes all my buttons !

Butter London Saucy Jack

This is 3 coats; no top coat. The colour is awesome. The first coat was a deep raspberry colour, but by the third coat, it matched the bottle perfectly. As per usual with Butter London, overworking this polish is not recommended, the formula is perfectly self-levelling, neither thick nor thin, and drying time is about average.

I totally understand that Butter London is fairly expensive compared to other brands, but if you can afford yourself the luxury, this shade is a sexy, visceral red, guaranteed !

April Challenge – Day 8 – Zig Zag

Well, they can’t always be winners, ladies !

For this zig zag design, I was partly inspired by the dry marble technique, and partly by my days spent topping cakes at a local café at my first job. It was a bit of a fail, but I still love the idea, and will definitely try it again !

I put a first base coat in greige (I forget which one!), and let that dry on all fingers. Then I went over it, one finger at a time, with a thicker coat, and put the red over the top in thin, straight lines running side to side. Before moving onto the next nail, I dragged a fine dotting tool through, up and down, perpendicular to the original lines.

Some nails came off fine, but I think there are some where the red lines weren’t even enough, and I think it would have worked better with a fine pin instead of a dotting tool 🙂
