Guest Post from Fairly Charming

Good morning ! It’s finally the weekend, doesn’t it feel great?! I have a few posts to put up this weekend, but I’d like to start with this guest post from Steph, who writes Fairly Charming – I do love hosting guest posts, I think it’s a great way to get some variety onto the blog, so if you’re interested in doing a guest post, do let me know !

Hello all!

I’m so excited to be a guest here on Brijit’s Digits! My name is Stefanie and I am the writer/nail artist at Fairly Charming 🙂 For this post I tried to combine a little bit of neon with a little bit of edge…

Colors Used: China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy, Rimmel – Black Satin, Hard Candy – Black Tie Optional, OPI – Black Shatter

Flip Flop Fantasy is a favorite with a lot of polish lovers. I finally got my claws on a bottle and I can now see why. It’s a 2 coater that dries fairly quickly with a sort of matte finish. What’s not to love!

I applied 2 coats of Flip Flop and 2 coats of Black Satin as my bases. I then applied a thin coat of Black Shatter to my index finger and a thick coat of Black Tie Optional to my middle and thumb. Using a cheap-o yellow kitchen sponge, I applied Flip Flop to my pinky. And lastly I took out my silver nail art stickers from H&M and applied my crown. Topcoated and… tada! 😀

I really like the different elements of this mani. Playing with different textures/patterns while still having them all tie together is a new favorite technique of mine. Possibilities are endless!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this post and I’d like to say a big thank you to Brijit for having me 🙂

Take care!

Stef ❤

Pre-Spring Challenge Day 6 – Sun

This time I’ve kept it rather simple ! One of my favourite mani styles at the moment is a ruffian mani, and it’s blissfully easy to do, which is great half way through a nail art challenge !

I’ve always wondered if a double-ruffian would be any good, and I’m rather pleased with the result ! I started with yellow, then orange, and finished with a neon coral, as that’s my favourite nail colour when it’s sunny outside 🙂

Swatch – China Glaze – Japanese Koi (1014/606450)

It seems that this blog is getting some views, especially for Sephora and China Glaze swatches.

Here’s a new one, a summer neon before the weather turns sour : China Glaze – Japanese Koi.

This polish is an orange neon, with that peculiar matt-glowing finish that neons have.

The first coat reveals this varnish to have a very thin formula :

A second coat gives little more opacity :

And a third won’t be enough to hide your smile line, either !

So I went for a fourth coat. This is the time to say a couple of things : (1) I don’t like to put thick coats of polish on – they chip more easily and can bubble as they dry, which I hate; (2) I became fascinated with this varnish!
It dries so fast, I was on the fifth coat in half an hour – and I let each coat dry fully before I went for the next one – the first finger was dry by the time I painted the tenth!

The fifth coat wasn’t 100% opaque either :

But it was still drying very fast!

I think I’ve already fully demonstrated the ‘natural’ finish, here it is with a shiny top coat :

I love how this colour sets off a tan, and it dries incredibly fast to leave a luminous, matt finish. Also, even with so many coats, the formula is so great, it didn’t cake my nails unpleasantly either.

Here’s a natural daylight photo, see how neon this is?!
