April Challenge – Day 4 – Green

As much as I adore green, I wasn’t feeling especially inspired. But, I decided to copy Craftynails’ Copycat of Theodora Nails from Oz. This came with 2 added bonuses – 1 – green is a great witchy colour – 2 – I finally got to open My Pointe Exactly, that I bought in a fit of madness 15 months (!) ago only to realise it wasn’t a creme and relegate it to a dark corner.

Day 4 - Green

I used Thames (Butter LONDON) and My Pointe Exactly (O.P.I.).

Piper Polish – Night Fall & Melon Balla

Happy Easter ! I hope that everyone has Friday off, here in France we have to work 😦

I have two Piper Polish shades to show you this evening – Night Fall and Melon Balla.

I ordered these a while ago, but I guess they got checked by the import people or something, because they took a while to arrive. Still, all’s well that ends well and they got here safe and sound 🙂

Different Dimension Swatches – 50 Shades and Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty

Good evening !

As I feared, I wasn’t able to get into work today. But I did impress myself big-time with my self-discipline, and got loads of work done. Today I have 2 Different Dimension swatches for you – for tomorrow, I am scheduling 2 more, as unfortunately, there is no way of telling if I will get home tomorrow night or not. So this might be it until Friday night, guys !

First up, 50 Shades. This, as you might expect, is mainly grey, black and white glitter. But it’s packed full ! Some holo glitter is thrown in for balance, and the formula is awesome – this is 2 coats over CG Elephant Walk :

Different Dimension - 50 Shades (over China Glaze - Elephant Walk)

I actually got this one for my sister – who jokes that 50 Shades… is the only book that she’s ever read ! But it’s a great polish and I’m tempted to order one myself !

Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty is also grey-based; I paired it with Butter London’s Billy No Mates. The base colour is very jelly-like, and I think I’ll try it over black next!

But this makes for a pretty sophisticated mani, as glitters go ! As you can see in the photo, the larger glitter pieces can settle a bit, but a good shake, and you’re good to go ! But there are 3 balls in there, so you don’t have to shake too hard…

Nail Art – Grey Wolf Mani

Hello ladies !

I’m sure you already know that Louise at Mommy Loves Nail Polish is having an awesome nail art competition on her facebook page, right?

Well, I am so glad that I have had some spare time today to come up with an entry !

I saw a retro tshirt a while back with a grey wolf on it, and have had the idea stuck in my head ever since that that would be a great idea for nail art. Then this week Eeeek came up with some wicked nail art based on her dog ! Well, I couldn’t not try my grey wolf idea, could I now?!

Grey Wolf Nail Art

I used NarsStormbird‘ (which I have never swatched, but it’s a gorgeous dark cold grey, that applies perfectly, the only problem is it wears off very fast), Barry M’s Grey Nail Paint – which is ever so slightly lighter, to add a bit of relief – and gold, black and white liners. I am so, so pleased that it came out so well – I have such a weakness for grey nail polish.

Swatch – O.P.I. – I Don’t Give a Rotterdam (NL H57)

Here’s a swatch I was planning on putting up before starting the 14-day pre-spring challenge ! You can see that my nails were a little longer then, before they were used and abused for a string of nail art 😉

Here’s I don’t give a Rotterdam by O.P.I. , from the Holland Collection that came out last Spring/Summer. I’ve already covered Thanks a Windmillion, and Did You ‘ear About Van Gogh is on it’s way (I’m putting it on as we speak to take it for a test-run).

Water Marble tips

I’ve been working on some more nail art, I water marbled up a few tips for my sister :

I used China Glaze White OutO.P.I.Dim Sum Plum and Barry M – Grey.

I was so pleased with how these turned out that I decided to do a full-nail marble. This was a bit of a mistake!

It was pretty enough but a bit garish, like a psychedelic zebra :

To help matters, I totally over-did the top coat and the pattern got dragged around =oc

So despite taking hours, this one didn’t last very long !
