Happy Tuesday ! We’ve all survived Monday and are one day closer to the weekend, woot !
Today I’ve got Ciaté‘s Chinchilla for you. This is a pale grey-blue creme that I got in the flash 50% off sale back in June.
I realise that we’re about ten years too late, but my bloke and I have been really getting into Stargate recently!
We’re on season 9 of SG1, lol.
So it was pretty easy to pick a series for this theme. And I thought that PMT by piCture pOlish fit the bill nicely for the dark, stony gate 😀
So the new piCture pOlish brushes arrived this week, they were good to their word !
Would you like to see? Well, I cleaned up one of the old ones I removed to show you the difference. The new one is shorter, but the stem is a little longer, so it still goes right to the bottom of the bottle.
Please excuse the dust – it only showed up once I blew the photo right up!
So how does it perform? Well, the new one is smoother. The bristles have a flexibility that runs more consistently along them, which means it fans out really nicely. In comparison, the older, rounder one has bristles that don’t spread as evenly or predictably. On the brushes below, I held them both together, so the pressure on them should be about the same
So I changed them all over, pretty messy for 11 bottles, so I’m glad I had some gloves handy 😉
Here’s the collection !
So I’m fairly sure I have a relative called Bevin. Probably. You see, my family is totally spread out all over the place. And I think my great aunt who lives in Australia married a handsome Aussie called Bevin. So this polish makes me think of him. Though I’ve never actually met him, so that was an interesting anecdote, huh?!
Well, I really do love Zoya polish, and it’s so expensive out here, I try to go for shades that I know I will wear! Bevin is a grey-green creme. It is opaque in 3 (thin) coats and has a lovely finish :
I’ve got a final couple of piCture pOlish swatches for you – Vampire and PMT. Admittedly these are not typical summer colours, but they are both colours that I wear a lot, so I still would like to share!
Vampire is a bloody red gelly. The finish is really stunning, but I did do 3 coats for good opacity. As with many other gellies, the first coat was a bit streaky, but it does even out beautifully if you don’t overwork it.
PMT is a classic grey, as usual it dries a little darker than in the bottle. It definitely has a blu-ish lean to it, but is very flattering and has a great finish. I went for 3 coats again, the formula is highly pigmented but a little too thin for thick layers.
There you go girls ! That’s your piCture pOlish lot for now 🙂
Nail polish? Yes, please!
