Models Own – Beetle Juice – Emerald Black, Golden Green, Pinky Brown, Purple Blue, Aqua Violet & Hayley’s Comet

Good evening! I’ve got another monster swatch post for you 🙂

I got three new models own nail polish from the Beetle Juice collection recently. Since this is very much an autumn/winter collection (for me, at least), I thought it would also be a good time to go over the swatches I did of my original three, and maybe even improve on them!

First up, Emerald Black. This is a nicely covering black creme with a lovely green shimmer. I’ve had this one for over a year, and I have to say, the formula hasn’t thickened at all. I used two coats – one was almost enough!

Swatch – Models Own – Golden Green Beetle Juice

Hi guys,

Sorry I haven’t posted for a while. The sun has finally come out in Northern France and everyone wants to be out and about, so I haven’t had much time !

Here is a quick swatch for Models Own – Golden Green Beetle Juice, here’s the bottle :

The colour is pretty much the same when it dries, a pretty golden-green metallic/foil with very fine glitter particles. I have had this one for a while and used it a few times, but the formula hasn’t started to thicken, though the brush comes out of the cap and is stuck in the bottle every time I open it, it is pretty easy to pull out and pop back in place again.
This colour starts to dry very fast, and so for a smooth application, you have to be very speedy. Two coats is quite opaque already, but this time my basecoat was rubbish, so I had to add a third coat to even it out :

There are a couple of bubbles, but I think that that has more to do with the dodgy base-coat than this polish.

I have also water-marbled with this polish, and it spreads really nicely (just like the two others that I have swatched from this range), and combines beautifully with black in particular.
I love this colour, it is really reminiscent of a beetle’s back, and it combines beautifully with crackles. The only downside is that the fine foil formula shows up the slightest defect in your nail – my silks need replacing and unfortunately this really shows through with this colour ! I think I prefer brighter or paler colours for the spring/summer season, but this is a great autumn/winter shade.

We’re having an Internet supplier changeover this week, but I’ll be back soon with more swatches, and I have lots of photos of nail art to share, so watch this space !
