December tries to steal the limelight with all the festive holiday manicures… but we refuse to let November sit on the sidelines! Let’s get creative with our November nails!

The Movember Moustaches theme will be especially fun. If you’ve never heard of Movember here’s a quick explanation from wikipedia: Movember is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancer and associated charities. Afterall, who doesn’t love muchos moustachios!?! And the natural place to put a moustache is on your nails, no?

Any questions about NAIL ART IDEAS LINKUP? Contact us or read more about N.A.I.L. on our blog links below. See you in November!

Nail Art Ideas Linkup – Autumn Trees

Woah, Thursday already ladies! That’s good, that means it’s Friday tomorrow 🙂

I was going to do a swatch for you tonight, but then this idea popped into my head for ‘autumn trees’ for the Nail Art Ideas Linkup. I’ve been following the entries, and couldn’t work out how to do it ‘my way’, so I was pleased to come up with this!

The base colour for the French is one of my own – Fools Gold

Nail Art Ideas Linkup – Breast Cancer Awareness

Good evening! This week sure is going by fast, isn’t it! I hope everyone else is having a good one 🙂

Today’s mani is for our first October theme for the Nail Art Ideas Linkup.

I bet you’re all hearing a lot about Breast Cancer Awareness at the moment, October is the Internationally recognised month for talking about it. Well, let’s not be prudish!

I also bet that a lot of women reading this already check themselves. That’s wicked. But if you don’t, please consider starting! I totally get that some women aren’t comfortable with their bodies and some women may just not know how to do it. Yet, it isn’t difficult and doesn’t take much time. Check this link to learn how.

Any kind of cancer is awful and traumatic, but the earlier you notice it, the more chances you have of surviving. And no, it isn’t common for young women to suffer from breast cancer. But it can happen. So check your breasts anyway. The more you are familiar with them, the more easily you will spot any lumps.

Don’t just give them a squeeze though, ladies! You need to massage deep into the tissues to feel their texture, and the best way of knowing if something is wrong is by doing this regularly, so don’t be shy! Advice varies from once a week to once a month, but just go for however often you remember to. If you do this often, you are more likely to notice if something is wrong. And if you find a lump, don’t panic. But do take it seriously. Go check with a doctor. I know it’s a hassle, but it’s worth it!

I don’t think that this is the case in all countries, but out here in France your regular family doctor will check your breasts – only every 18 months or so. You don’t have to let him/her. And I get that it’s embarrassing. But you know, doctors don’t study for nothing! They might notice something that you have missed. And it’s not painful, and is very quick.

If you are a blogger and have done a BCA post, do feel free to leave a link to it in the comments 🙂 oh, and check here for advice, support and information Continue reading

Nail Art Ideas Linkup – October Themes

Hey ladies and gents! (What? A blogger can always hope!) Nail Art Ideas Linkup is still going strong! This October Eeeek! Nail Polish!, Brijit’s Digits and Craftynail are bringing you 5 themes instead of the usual 4. You won’t run out of ideas for nail art this month! Here’s what’s going on…

We’ve simplified things a bit for October. We won’t be utilizing the VOTING tool any longer… so no more crowning a NAIL GENIUS each week. Sure, we all voted on a bunch of amazing manis, and it was so much fun while it lasted, but we don’t want you to feel like this is a competition or anything! Just a great way to share our designs with each other! Plus, simpler is better, don’t you think?

With that in mind, our themes will not close at the end of each week either. You may remember that you previously needed to submit your nail art within a 7 day period or the linkz would close. Well, not anymore! All 5 inlinkz will be open all month. This way you have flexibility with your submissions. The dates for each week are now simply suggested dates- so go ahead and post when you can. Easy, right?

Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? That brings us to the first NAIL theme of October! Don’t put those pink nail polishes away for the winter just yet- Breast Cancer Awareness week starts tomorrow. That’s right, the October NAIL Linkup starts tomorrow! Here are the links:

30th Sept – 6th Oct – Breast Cancer Awareness :
7th-13th Oct – Autumn Trees :
14th-20th Oct – Things That Go Bump in the Night :
21st-27th Oct – Treats and Sweets :
28th Oct – 3rd Nov – Hallow E’en :

Have you heard about our nail art challenge*? Craftynail, Eeeek! Nail Polish! and I are hosting a monthly challenge* called Nail Art Ideas Linkup!

Why is there an asterisk by the word challenge?? Even though Nail Art Ideas Linkup (NAIL) sounds like a regular ol’ nail art challenge…. it’s actually more of a way for us to share our nail art! So Jax, Jemma and I prefer to call it a Linkup. 😀 We’ve got four nail art ideas (themes) per month… so you’ll never run out of inspiration for your next manicure design! It’ll be fun to share our NAIL pics with eachother each week so join in whenever you’d like! It’s not a challenge per se, so you don’t have to do each week if you don’t want to. Plus, after each weeks’ links close up- you can cast 3 votes for your favorite NAIL Genius Of The Week!

Each theme will have links open for one week. Example- Theme 1 is Back to School. So you can post your ‘school mani’ anytime between Sept 2 and Sept 8 by accessing the inlinkz on my Nail Art Ideas Linkup Reference Page on the menu of my blog. Your submissions will need to be a URL from your blog, Instagram, Facebook account, etc. All we ask is that you post a unique design that you created with the Linkup in mind. And if you happen to win NAIL Genius Of The Week we’ll create a cool little brag badge for you!

April Challenge – Day 30 – Recreate

I’m really sad that this challenge is over! It’s been so much fun, and I’ve been very glad to discover some great new blogs 🙂

Today’s is ‘recreate’. Well, I don’t want to recreate one of my own manis, so I’ve copied Craftynail’s Ruffian mani. Click on the image below to check it out!

First of all I tried using the same method as she did. I painted my nails black. Hours later, when it was dry, I added some mani stickers and then painted over with my neutral polish. And when I took the stickers off, it took off half the black… Great ! So I fixed that up and waited for it to dry. The neutral I used, Nice is Nice by Essie, then started to bubble! So with a lot of swearing, I took it all off again !

Then I started again, and put Nice is Nice on first. Then that dried, and I freehanded the flattish half-moons. Then I kept going, and went a bit overboard…

Still, no bubbles this time, hah !
