I do enjoy having blue nails, it always seems to be the colour that gets me the most compliments ! So I have several great blue polishes. Today I decided to use Kiko 386 – Soft Pastel Blue. Well, this polish isn’t soft or pastel, but by golly is it blue!
I was inspired by our recent trip to Normandy. A lot of tourist souvenir stalls sell marinières. These are the blue-and-white striped shirts that French Navy personnel wear. Since Normandy is a coastal region, I guess that’s where the connection is 😉
So I did decide to freehand the stripes. I’ll try tape sometime too, but I love this arty look, and even though they aren’t perfect, I’m pretty pleased with how well they went! That said, I’m glad I didn’t try to do more than a couple of nails…
To avoid streaking when I added top coat, I did it horizontally on the stripy nails. Then the second coat went on normally to even it all out.

Cute blue stripes!
cute! great for what I can copy not being all that great with art nor having a lot of time/patience for same…and this works great for where I live which is coastal fishing town and it’s still going to be hot, hot hot for the next month – very much summer time and not fall – we have our hottest part of the yr this mo and on thou mid Oct always.
Ohh lucky you! I’m sad that our summer is coming to an end already
These look so cool! I would rather freehand it too 🙂 tape is a hassle
That said, tape might have been quicker in the end in this case, haha!
❤
Cute! And that’s makes so much sense to topcoat in the direction of the stripes. Why haven’t I ever thought of that? D:
Haha, glad to help 😉
